It is a surgical procedure that is applied to patients with missing teeth by providing the appropriate amount of bone and appropriate systemic conditions and only treats the missing area without damaging the other teeth. Local anesthesia is applied during the procedure and the patient does not feel the slightest pain. In patients with poor bone condition, a tomography is requested from the patient and the bone volume is evaluated vertically and horizontally. In cases where the bone is thin horizontally, crest split expansion procedure is performed and bone powder can be used. Vertically, more advanced surgical procedures such as taking bone from other regions and completing the missing area can be applied.
Main Advantages of Implant Treatment
- It provides a look and feel similar to natural teeth and provides an aesthetically pleasing result.
- It improves biting and chewing performance by restoring the natural function of teeth.
- It offers a long-term solution that can be used for a lifetime with proper maintenance.
- It helps to speak properly by eliminating speech disorders caused by missing teeth.
- It does not require the extraction or support of neighboring teeth, thus preserving the natural tooth structure.
Sinus surgeries may be required for the upper jaw if the patient has had a tooth extracted a long time ago or if the sinuses are anatomically sagging. These are called open or closed sinuses depending on the amount of bone. Specialist doctors perform this procedure during surgery and place the implant. After the procedure is completed, the actual prosthesis procedure is performed at least 3 months later. It may extend up to 6-9 months in different procedures. The patient may experience pain and swelling after the operation. This situation is minimized if the necessary medications are used and ice packs are applied.
